About Infant Child Adolescent and Youth Mental Health Services (ICAYMHS)

Our role

We provide services to infants, children and youth (ages 0 – 18 years; up to 24 years with specific populations) with severe, complex and persistent mental disorders living within the North Metropolitan Area catchment.

Our teams

There are 8 teams located in Clarkson, High Wycombe, Joondalup, Midland, Mirrabooka, Northbridge, Shenton, Warwick and Whitfords.

We work with families and carers in teams comprising allied health, medical and nursing staff. We also work with the referrer and a range of youth and family focused agencies.

Our services

Our mental health services provide multidisciplinary assessment and intervention services based from a Tiered System of Care. ICAYMHS provides Tier 3 and 4 services. View Tier 1 and Tier 2 services.

Tier 3 – Specialist mental health services
Tier 4 – Specialist and supra regional mental health services

Services work with infants children and adolescents with more severe complex and persistent mental disorders. Assessment and treatment are informed by a number of specialist mental health clinicians from complementary professional with differing expertise working collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team. (MDT). The MDT coordinated interventions by several professionals either sequentially or contemporaneously to address many facets of the range of mental disorders referred to the service.

Services work with highly specific and complex problems requiring considerable resources. These services include inpatient psychiatric provision for adolescents, secure provision or specialist outpatient’s services for children and young people who have unusual, very severe, complex or persistent disorders almost always complicated by risk factors. Services include assessment, containment and treatment of the most complex, persistent or severely ill and suicidal children and young people. Services provide training and consultation to Tiers 1, 2, 3 services.

Youthlink assists young people, aged 13-24 years of age, who experience difficulties with their emotional or social well-being. We are a free and confidential counselling service, with experienced support workers who are friendly, non-judgemental and understanding.
